Replacing Siding With Natural Stone
The home’s front elevation featured prominent gables, a large arched window, a projecting bay, and several transitions between architectural sections. Replacing the siding in these areas with natural stone created an opportunity to add visual weight and establish a stronger focal point around the entrance.
The new masonry needed to enhance those existing features without overwhelming the rest of the house. Material selection, pattern, scale, and placement all played an important role in making the transformation feel appropriate to the home.

Cornerstone replaced sections of siding with Connecticut Blend ThinStone to give this Mansfield home a natural New England stone facade.
Connecticut Blend ThinStone
Connecticut Blend ThinStone is a natural ledgestone veneer with a varied combination of gray, brown, tan, and warm earth tones. Its layered shapes and natural texture give the facade depth while complementing the home’s white siding, dark shutters, and traditional New England architecture.
Because every piece of natural stone is different, achieving a balanced finished appearance requires thoughtful placement. Colors, sizes, shapes, and joint lines must be distributed across the elevation so the stone reads as one cohesive composition.
From Siding Removal to Finished Stonework
Cornerstone handled the front-exterior scope from removal of the existing siding through completion of the stone veneer.
The natural stone was carefully fitted around windows, gables, corners, rooflines, and entry details. Particular attention was given to maintaining a consistent blend across the different sections of the facade, allowing the stonework to connect the architectural features visually.
That careful installation makes the veneer appear integral to the home rather than added as an afterthought.
A Natural New England Exterior
The completed facade changed the character of the property while remaining true to its residential setting. The Connecticut Blend stone gives the central elevation greater depth and permanence, creating a distinctive entrance and a natural transition between the home and the surrounding landscape.
The result is a residential exterior that feels established, balanced, and well suited to Mansfield and the broader New England region. Most importantly, the homeowner was extremely pleased with the transformation.
